Wreckage of the Cessna 340 aircraft was reportedly found near Mayon Volcano crater, a day after it was declared missing.

In a Facebook post, Albay Rep. Joey Salceda shared that the estimated location of the plane wreckage is 6,500 feet above or 350 meters from the crater of Mayon Volcano.

The location of the plane’s wreckage was determined after members of the search and rescue (SAR) operations focused on the steep area inside the Permanent Danger Zone of the Mayon Volcano.

Camalig Mayor Carlos Baldo Jr. said the aircraft reportedly crashed on the upper part of Barangay Quirangay in Camalig town.

“Authorities are presently investigating the crash site to map our factors that led to the recent incident in town,” Baldo said.

However, the aircraft’s four passengers have yet to be found.

“Search and rescue operations are still in effect unless dead bodies are found, then it will be declared as search and retrieval operations,” he continued.

“Tuloy po ang search and rescue operations. Hindi tayo susuko kasi buhay ng tao ang concerned dito,” he added.

The aircraft was reported missing Saturday after it lost contact with the Bicol International Airport around 6:46 a.m.

It was scheduled to land in Manila at 7:53 a.m.
