A lawmaker on Wednesday, Feb. 1, expressed concern about the latest advertisement campaign which she alleged “objectifies women.”

In the said ad released by a fast food chain, a social media personality is seen comparing three women to different sandwich options and vaguely describing them as the “biggest, tastiest, and meatiest.”

In a statement, Gabriela Women’s Partylist Rep. Arlene Brosas reminded the fast food chain that “women are not pieces of meat.”

Brosas said the ad “reeks of sexism and misogyny.”

“It is deeply offensive, triggering, and insensitive, especially when many Filipino women continue to experience various forms of sexual violence and abuse,” Brosas said.

“This is a stark reminder that, when it comes to the way we portray women in the media, we still have a very long way to go,” she added.

Brosas urged the fast food chain to take down the ad and issue an apology to the public.

She also hopes that the incident “serves as a lesson for companies to do better and be more sensitive to the plight of women.”

The fast food chain has yet to issue any statement. -ag
