Veteran journalist Luis V. Teodoro passed away on March 13, the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Mass Communication (CMC) announced on Tuesday, March 14.

Teodor died at 81. He served as dean of UPCMC from 1994 to 2000.

“Maraming salamat sa iyong paglingkod sa bayan. Mahal ka namin,” UPCMC wrote.

“As educator, editor, and journalist, Dean Teodoro was pivotal in fostering academic excellence in our discipline, upholding integrity in the practice of media, and defending our freedoms of the press, speech, and assembly,” it added.

The Philippine Collegian, the official publication of UP, recognized Teodoro’s contribution in campus press freedom.

“Teodor continued his advocacy for a free press, evidenced in his reports and scholarly works on the political economy of the Philippine media,” Philippine Collegian wrote.

Teodoro founded independent media outfit Altermidya in 2014. -ag
