SAGIP Partylist Representative and House Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta withdrew from the senatorial race 12 days before the May 9 polls on Wednesday, April 27.

In his official statement, Marcoleta said he dropped from the senatorial race due to the “poor” standing on various poll surveys.

“The fighter in me should also be brave enough to read the writings on the wall,” he said.

He also mentioned his gratitude for the trust and opportunity to be endorsed by President Rodrigo Duterte, as well as the endorsements and support by Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), the People’s Reform Party, and UniTeam.

“I will be indebted forever to several people who chipped in their resources, time and tons of hardwork into my memorable campaign,” he said.

Although he left the senatorial slate of UniTeam, he vowed to give his full support to the tandem of presidential candidate BongBong Marcos and vice presidential bet Sara Duterte, and other senatorial candidates under the UniTeam and PDP-Laban slates.  – ag
