Transport group asks for ‘surge fee’ in jeepneys during rush hour

Transport group Pasang Masda on Monday, Oct. 17, said it wants to charge a “surge fee” in jeepneys during rush hour amid the continued oil price rise.

Pasang Masda President Obet Martin said they are planning to submit a petition to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to allow them to charge a “fuel surcharge” during rush hour from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Another oil price hike is set on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Caltex, Cleanfuel, PTT Philippines, Seaoil, and Shell said gasoline prices will increase by P0.80 per liter and diesel prices by P2.70 per liter.

Meanwhile, a P2.90 rise will also be implemented on kerosene prices. Report from Karen Villanda
