More named to join Marcos Jr’s Cabinet

President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., during an interview with his newly assigned Press Secretary Trixie Cruz Angeles, announced some of his appointees who will join his cabinet on June 30.

Marcos said Benjamin Diokno will be his finance secretary, while Felipe Medalla will serve as the governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to replace Diokno.

Fred Pascual will lead the Department of Trade and Industry, and Manny Bonoan will head the Department of Public Works and Highways. Former Davao del Norte Rep. Anton Lagdameo will serve as the special assistant to the president.

The soon-to-be head of state said many tried to apply to head the Department of Customs and Bureau of Internal Revenue.

No names have been mentioned yet regarding other government agencies, such as the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Information and Communications Technology.

Marcos Jr. has already named some of his appointees prior to his proclamation.

Vice-president elect Sara Duterte-Carpio will head the Department of Education, Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. will be the interior secretary, while Bienvenido Laguesma will serve as labor secretary.

Cavite Rep. Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla will serve as the justice secretary, and Susan “Toots” Ople will take the post as the secretary for migrant workers.

His longtime spokesperson, lawyer Vic Rodriguez, will serve as executive secretary.

Marcos was proclaimed last Wednesday, May 25, as the new president with a landslide vote count of 31,629,783 votes. He will assume the post of outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte.  – ag
