KWF holds free webinar series to mark National Literature Month

As part of its celebration of National Literature Month (Buwan ng Panitikan) that it kicked off with a virtual opening ceremony on Friday (April 2), the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) will hold a free webinar series on Philippine languages in cooperation with professors from various Philippine universities.

The first one will be held on Monday, April 5, with the topic “Wikang Katutubo: Wika ng Dekolonisasyon” [Indigenous Languages: the Languages of Decolonization], and facilitated by Prof. Leonardo D. Tejano of Mariano Marcos State University.

The second, “Ang Babaylan hanggang kay Darna at ang Di-Matapos-tapos na Pakikibaka ng mga Filipina” [The Shaman up to Darna and the Never-Ending Activism of Filipinas], is set for April 12 with facilitator Dr. Dolores T. Taylan of De La Salle University.

The third webinar, “Kasaysayan: Batis ng Panitikan” [History: Literature’s Spring], will be handled by Dr. Alicia P. Magos of the University of the Philippines-Visayan on April 19.

Finally, the fourth will be held on April 26 with the topic “Pagsasalin Mulang Katutubong Wika Tungong Filipino: Ilang Isyu, Hámon, at Mungkahing Tugon” [Translation from Indigenous Languages to Filipino: Issues, Challenges, and Proposed Responses], to be facilitated by expert translator Dr. Raquel S. Buban of De La Salle University.

The webinar series may be viewed on the KWF’s official Facebook page from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon on the scheduled days.
