Filipino food among 100 best cuisines in the world

The diversity of Filipino flavors shone through as it stood among the best globally in the latest list of “100 Best Cuisines in the World” by international food website TasteAtlas.

Garnering a rating of 4.35 out of 5 stars, the Philippines landed at the 33rd spot in the food encyclopedia’s top cuisines for 2023-2024.

Italy took first place followed by Japan, Greece, Portugal, and China.

One of the best rated Filipino foods in the website was the well-loved sour soup “sinigang”, which also ranked 97th among TasteAtlas’ 100 best dishes.

Moreover, “atchara” or pickled green papaya, a staple condiment alongside Filipino dishes took 4th place in the Top 32 Picklings in the World.

TasteAtlas also named lechon, pansit, adobo, lumpia, and sisig as the most popular Filipino dishes.

The City of Makati was also hailed as the 100th Best Food Cities & Regions globally out of 16,601 cities for having recorded one of “the best average ratings for regional and national dishes most commonly served” in their areas.

An online database for culinary exploration, TasteAtlas curated its list after evaluating a total of 395,205 dish ratings (with 271,819 deemed valid) and about 115,660 food ratings (80,863 valid). – cf
