Baguio City is bringing back its mandatory face mask rule indoors amid the rising COVID-19 cases in the country.

In an interview, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong said he will issue an executive order requiring the use of face masks in indoor settings.

“[Due] to [the] rising number of cases, we’re averaging about 30 to 40 a day so kailangan talaga nating mag-ingat ulit,” Magalong said.

“Kailangang mag-observe ulit tayo ng minimum health standards, especially ‘yung wearing of mask, kaya dito ipapatupad na ulit natin. We also advised dito sa city hall and other government offices, especially sa indoors, we’re now requiring our constituents and visitors to be wearing their face masks,” he added.

Magalong also urged the public to complete their vaccination in order to stay protected against the virus.

He also advised residents and city visitors to continue practicing minimum public health standards such as wearing of face masks, avoiding handshakes, and regular washing of hands.

“This is one way of mitigating and at the same time, hopefully we’ll be able to reduce the number of cases,” he added.

He, however, assured that there will be no control on movement or limit on gatherings and events in the city.
